1. new in quality (innovation), fresh in development or opportunity
Innovation is at the core of everything we do at Kainos. It’s how we approach client projects – determining how things might be done differently, better.
Our passion for innovation is reflected in the way we recruit our staff, the technology we develop and exploit and the way we deploy it.
Innovation is in our blood
We don’t say it lightly when we claim that our people are our biggest differentiator. Comprising the best graduates from the best universities, our employees come to Kainos and stay with us because we keep them challenged, interested and engaged.
Take our widely publicised summer AppCamp®, which provides a unique and exciting opportunity for young developers and entrepreneurs to conceive and develop their own innovative mobile Apps. Each year this unprecedented initiative captures the imagination of some of the most talented students as they compete to get their iPhone/iPod Touch and iPad Apps into the Apple AppStore. The programme (see http://appcamp.co.uk/site/news/) has been so successful that it has now been replicated in Dublin and Gdansk in Poland, with plans to roll out the scheme in the US in the future.
Innovation in technology
Once they join us, our team members get to work at the cutting edge of technology, applying the latest innovations to some of our customers’ most deep-set problems. We use the latest platforms and tools to deliver a functionally rich yet highly intuitive user experience via a simple web browser. Our solutions can be readily deployed via the cloud and rolled out to mobile devices, securely and cost-effectively.
The fruits of our innovation aren’t only evident in the direct impact our solutions have for our customers. We’ve developed and spun off enormously successful product businesses, including Meridio, a powerful content management system now owned by HP’s Autonomy, and SpeechStorm, an innovative speech recognition platform – technologies which continue to underpin many of our customer projects today.
Innovation in R&D
Because of our ethos of innovation, Kainos has been singled out to take part in a prestigious cutting-edge healthcare technology research programme using virtual reality and avatars to help vulnerable patients cope with neurological disorders including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. The €5 million EC-funded ICT project, known as ‘VERVE’, is coordinated by Trinity College Dublin and the consortium includes partners in healthcare and academia in France, UK, Italy, Spain and Germany.
