The result of this investment will double employee numbers in Kainos Gdansk by 2016. 'Innovative small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) are our future' said Pawe? Adamowicz, Mayor of Gdansk City. 'Companies, Universities and other organisations need to co-operate to develop the region. Kainos is an ideal model for that co-operation.' The company's talent is highly qualified: 98% of staff are university graduates with over 80% of delivery staff holding first-class technical honours degrees. Kainos employs innovative recruitment practices too, to actively attract the best young talent from universities across the UK, Ireland and Poland. Initiatives include an annual 'AppCamp' and the most recently launched Test Automation Academy. Thanks to its partnership with InvestGDA and City of Gdansk Council, Kainos is preparing students and young professionals to work in a world of cutting-edge technology with this new initiative. Of ninety applicants, fifteen were chosen to partake in the TAA workshop over two weekends, where they received training in Selenium, the current number one tool for test automation. The three best participants (Marta Lewandowska, Agnieszka Garwoli?ska and Pawe? Gu?dzio?) were awarded and offered careers in Kainos. Stephan Sakowicz, Head of Gdansk Operations, commented 'We are trying to fill the gap by offering training through innovative schemes like AppCamp and Test Automation Academy.' Kainos is planning to double the number of test automation engineers in the near future as part of its ambitious three-year growth plan which will see it double its staff count to over 650 people, and effectively double annual revenues to over £65 million, by 2016.
