Kainos was selected by the Audit Commission to design and deliver an enterprise Document and Records Management (eDRM) solution to the Audit Commission’s 2,500 employees, across all sites in England. The solution was delivered in conjunction with Kainos’ partner Meridio, the leading provider of eDRM software.

The Audit Commission is an independent public body responsible for ensuring that public money is spent economically, efficiently, and effectively in the areas of local government, housing, health, criminal justice and fire and rescue services. The Audit Commission’s mission is to be a driving force in the improvement of public services – promoting good practice and helping those responsible for public services to achieve better outcomes for their citizens.

The Challenge

The Audit Commission was faced with the challenge of improving knowledge sharing between staff to enable them to optimise job performance. They also needed to improve corporate governance whilst satisfying the requirements of the Freedom of Information Policy and other relevant legislation.

Kainos was selected to help them design, deliver, integrate and support an enterprise Document and Records Management solution across their existing infrastructure at sites in England. Commenting from the Audit Commission, Caroline Usher, Senior Project Manager said, “We are extremely satisfied with the progress Kainos has made on the project to date. Our experience so far is that the Meridio integrated eDRM solution meets our requirements and we went live to our first group of users last month as planned. Although the full benefits of an eDRM implementation take some time to be realised – early indications are that it will be a positive step forward in the Commission’s drive for effective information management.”

According to Brian Reid, Director of Sales at Kainos, “The selection of Kainos by a prominent public sector organisation such as the Audit Commission is testament to the quality of our people and our focus and commitment to the Public Sector. We are delighted to be associated with such an innovative and strategic initiative.”
