The Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust is Announced as a Finalist in the 2011 Health Business Awards

London, December 2nd, 2011 The Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust has been announced as a finalist in the Healthcare IT Award category at this year's 2011 Health Business awards. This is the third time in only a few months that Ipswich has been shortlisted as a finalist for a major award category. Crowned winner of the Best Project in Public Sector at the Document Management Awards and a finalist in the 'Outstanding work in IT-enabled Change in Healthcare' category at the EHI Awards, the team is now one of four finalists at the 2011 Health Business awards. Ipswich has been selected for its highly replicable, flexible and clinician focused solution (Evolve?) delivered in partnership with technology solutions company, Kainos. The solution has significant support and engagement right across the Trust from clinical staff through to GPs and across nursing and administration staff and has revolutionised the way the Trust uses information to improve patient care, safety and outcomes. This year's winners will be announced at an awards ceremony to be held at the Arsenal's Emirates Stadium on Thursday December 8th, and will recognise excellence and best practice in the NHS. The 2011 Awards will be presented by Juliet Morris. A former BBC Newsround presenter, Juliet has recently fronted the BBC series Unchartered Territory, which follows people looking to buy holiday homes in foreign locations off the beaten track. Neil Turnbull is Head of Programme Delivery in the Information Management and Technology department at The Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust and comments, 'This is a great honour to be recognised as a finalist once again and it is a true testament to the quality of the Evolve solution and the impact it has had from a people and process improvement perspective through to improved patient care. We are delighted to receive this recognition on behalf of everyone that has worked on the project.' Deirdre O'Neill is head of the Evolve healthcare division at Kainos and adds, 'What a great achievement for the Ipswich team - a much deserved recognition for them. We are enjoying significant traction with Evolve across the UK healthcare market and have recently acquired a further four Trusts that have standardised on Evolve as their EMR. Ipswich and its enthusiasm and project success has been pivotal to this increased take up.'
