Kainos excels at spotting talent and enabling growth across all roles. Hear from one of our Kainos WorkSmart consultants on the journey his career has taken and why he feels that:

“It doesn’t matter what band or level of experience …. if someone needs a hand it’s extended and I’m very proud of that. I think it’s a good indictment of the kind of people and ethos we have.”

“There are no barriers when it comes to evolving within your job role at Kainos WorkSmart… development is always supported…”

Opportunity is there for the taking

After joining Kainos at Senior Associate level I was sent to Amsterdam to complete my HCM training. Like most Kainos WorkSmart consultants HCM was my first certification.

After I completed my first HCM project Kainos WorkSmart management encouraged me to undertake certification for Workday Absence. There are no barriers when it comes to evolving within your job in Kainos WorkSmart and with my previous experience in Absence I had a keen interest in the module. With only two Absence consultants in Kainos WorkSmart at the time, the opportunity to grow and mature my capability was there for the taking. Self-development is always supported at Kainos WorkSmart, now I am certified in four Workday modules including Time Tracking and Financials. Along with these certifications, I have moved one band to consultant level and I am working towards my next career milestone – management.

“…progression at Kainos WorkSmart knows no bounds.”

Think big

In previous companies, I didn’t have the opportunity or support to self-develop and explore different areas I was interested in like I have at Kainos WorkSmart. The support I’ve received since joining has made me feel valued by the company and it motivates me to continue developing my skills; progression at Kainos WorkSmart knows no bounds.

Several times I have expressed an interest in diving into new areas or taking on extra responsibility to progress as an individual and every time my manager has listened and helped me to map my route for progression. As a result, I have moved further up the career ladder from Senior Associate to Consultant, as well as diversifying and gaining all four of my Workday certifications. The tools and feedback from my manager have helped me to step up and take on the role more recently of acting Absence Capability Lead which is helping me gain the required experience for a future managerial position.

“I am a career coach to three people and for me, it feels like I’m helping someone along the start of their career and guiding them to achieve their next career step.”

Mentorship is everywhere

The career coaching programme is one of the fortunate advantages we have at Kainos WorkSmart where employees are coached individually by a senior member of staff and everyone, at every level gets a coach. Everyone can benefit from coaching but particularly if you are joining at a junior level. I am a career coach to three people and for me, it feels like I’m helping someone at the start of their career and guiding them to achieve their next career step. It can be a fundamental process for any employee; as a coach, I can help people avoid situations I have seen or experienced before and help them navigate any issues they may face. Coaching is good for me too as I am gaining experience in managing people and adding to my skillset.

“I feel in other companies you are very regimented with a level of micromanagement. Kainos WorkSmart gives you autonomy.”

We live our values

The true ethos of Kainos WorkSmart is evident in our key values; respect, determination, creativeness, cooperation and helpfulness.
I’ve worked in companies throughout my career where the open-door policy wasn’t as prevalent as it is in Kainos WorkSmart. I feel in other companies you are very regimented with a level of micromanagement. Kainos WorkSmart gives you autonomy to manage yourself. As a business, we enjoy taking on challenging customers and thrive on taking responsibility for delivery and providing creative solutions for customers.

In the four years I’ve worked at Kainos WorkSmart, I’ve always had the support of my peers or my managers to assist me. Everyone pitches in whether a graduate or senior team member. It doesn’t matter what band or level of experience they’ve got if someone needs a hand it’s extended and I’m very proud of that. I think it’s a good indictment of the kind of people and ethos we have.
