Climate action and our path to net zero
Why climate action matters
Climate change affects everyone. While our direct environmental footprint is relatively modest, we recognise the important role we can play through the way we operate, the choices we make and the support we provide to our customers.
That's why climate action is embedded in our strategy, governance and reporting.
Our progress
Our ambition is to achieve net zero by FY30, supported by science-based targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
We measure and report emissions across all three scopes and have successfully completed our first near-term target cycle (FY20-FY26), achieving:
- Scope 1 and 2: 75% absolute emissions reduction, exceeding our 70% target.
- Scope 3: 45% emissions intensity reduction per £1m gross profit, meeting our target.
We continue to reduce emissions across our operations and value chain while setting more ambitious targets under the latest SBTi Corporate Net-Zero Standard. We have also moved away from carbon offsets, focusing on direct emissions reductions and local initiatives that create lasting environmental and social value. For detailed emissions data, methodology and annual progress reporting, see our Annual Report, CDP disclosure and Carbon Reduction Plan.
"We're proud of the progress we've made, but climate action is a long-term journey. It's about taking responsibility for our impact, making better decisions and helping our customers do the same. By reducing emissions and working closely with customers and suppliers, we can continue to make a meaningful difference."

How we’re delivering
Travel: We promote lower-carbon travel through hybrid working, green travel initiatives, an electric vehicle leasing scheme and our Bike to Work scheme.
Supply chain: The majority of our emissions sit within our value chain. We are strengthening supplier engagement, improving transparency and increasing accountability across the business to help reduce Scope 3 emissions.
Continuous improvement: Improving how we measure, manage and report our emissions remains an ongoing priority. Using the Watershed sustainability platform, we're continuing to strengthen data quality, increase accountability and explore new approaches, including internal carbon budgets, to support informed decision-making across the business.
