As a technology company, our biggest opportunity to drive environmental impact isn't just in reducing our own footprint. It's in helping others reduce theirs. The tools we build, the services we deliver, and the partnerships we invest in can all contribute to a lower-carbon future. We think that's a responsibility worth taking seriously. 

Helping customers reduce emissions 

Our services help customers lower their own carbon footprint in practical ways: 

• Cloud migration: helping customers move from energy-intensive on-premises data centres to more efficient cloud platforms, reducing energy use and supporting lower-carbon digital operations.
• Green software: embedding sustainability into the design, build and delivery of digital services, helping customers make more efficient technology choices. More than 250 of our people are certified Green Software Practitioners.
• Responsible AI: supporting customers to adopt AI responsibly and at scale, helping them automate processes, improve efficiency and deliver transformation with appropriate governance, transparency and oversight.
• Digital healthcare: helping healthcare organisations replace paper-based processes with digital workflows, reducing reliance on printing, physical records, document storage and manual administration while improving efficiency and access to information.
• Employee document management: helping organisations move away from paper-based processes by digitising document creation, approval, storage and retention, simplifying compliance, improving efficiency and reducing resource consumption.

We are watching the environmental impact of AI closely. We remain focused on responsible adoption, prioritising practical use cases, efficient architectures, and green cloud practices. As measurement methodologies improve, we'll keep our climate commitments and AI approach aligned. 

Partnerships 

We don't do this alone. Partnerships help us go further and contribute to change beyond our own operations.  

DEFRA's Government Digital Sustainability Alliance (GOSIA) 
As an active member, we help shape national digital sustainability policy, influence sector-wide standards, and share best practice across Government and industry.  

The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) 
We partner with TCV to deliver biodiversity and community-based environmental projects. Our people support conservation, habitat restoration and tree planting. We're expanding this partnership into broader programmes with enhanced impact measurement, aligning our climate action with nature-based solutions.  

SBTi 
Our science-based targets are validated by the Science Based Targets initiative, connecting our commitments to the global framework for corporate climate action.
