Kainos welcomes new Digital Plan for Health and Social Care
Following today’s publication of the new Plan for Digital Health and Social Care, Kainos has welcomed the UK Government’s ambitious vision to transform healthcare through technology. The Plan sets out a renewed focus on investing in digital technology to improve services for patients, the public and clinicians, and release savings back into the health and care system.
The Plan is backed by investment of £2 billion earmarked from the spending review and includes a range of important modernisation initiatives. These include new features for the NHS App and the NHS website to provide faster, more personalised treatment. This will be supported by widespread adoption of electronic patient records in the NHS and providing people with better access to their medical records.
Kainos is the primary delivery partner for the NHS App, helping to design and build the solution and technical architecture, giving patients safe and secure access to a range of health services online. Over 28 million people now have the NHS App in their pocket.
Welcoming the new Plan, Kainos’ Healthcare Director, John Smith said:
“We are really pleased to see the UK Government’s significant new plans for transforming health and social care through digital technology. As digital experts, we understand the enormous potential of technology to transform NHS services and support improved healthcare outcomes. We are already a trusted digital delivery partner to the NHS at national, regional and local levels, and look forward to helping to deliver this important new transformation agenda.”
