An Xpression of Pride - Belfast Pride 2022
Pride means celebrating our community’s strength and stamina of being ourselves every day.
Pride is the more or less conscious process of doing this not just for ourselves but also for the LGBTQ+ generations to come- so they won’t have to go through the experiences we have endured and so many still endure in other parts of the world.
Belfast Pride 2022 saw Kainos represented in the city's famous parade, supported by growing numbers of LGBTQ+ colleagues and allies! There was a carnival atmosphere in the city and those who attended were able to renew existing friendships and create new, after 2 years of Pride being held virtually.
Belfast enjoyed it’s largest Pride to date with an estimated 80,000 people in attendance- a huge increase from the original 100 people who took part in the first parade 30 years ago. The colourful displays, floats, and party atmosphere was enjoyed by the Kainos team who attended. On behalf of our Xpression committee we want to extend a huge THANK YOU to Karan Gibson and Lee Nelson, as well as all those who attended and supported the event to make it a very memorable day.
The consensus of the day from the friends and colleagues in attendance was a heartfelt pride for Kainos supporting our LGBTQ+ colleagues, and a willingness to ensure that next years attendance will be even bigger and better in line with the growing support for the Xpression network!
