Sprint 15 celebrates the positive transformation of UK public sector digital services
Sprint15, held today at the British Film Institute in London, marked another stage of digital transformation in UK government services. The event celebrated the significant achievements made by the government and its implementation partners over the past two years. In a time of radical change, real benefits have been realised.
In his keynote address at Sprint15, the Rt Hon Francis Maude MP said: 'Government IT has gone from a byword for failure to a shining example of public sector innovation and reform' and'we've achieved a huge amount...more savings, better services, new opportunities for business.'
Kainos has helped deliver seven projects so far, ranging from supporting online voter registration to availability of online driver records.
Nigel Lynas, Head of Government Digital Sales at Kainos commented: 'It's fantastic to be part of such positive transformation for government departments and agencies such as the DVLA. And the part set out by GDS at Sprint15 is exciting: For example, Verify one of the first components of the Government as a Platform initiative will enable universal identity verification across all departments.'
Already live in several departments, Verify was used successfully for some taxpayers who submitted self-assessment forms before the January 31st deadline this year.
Said Lynas: 'We're proud to work with government departments and the Cabinet Office to help deliver services that are changing the lives of UK citizens for the better. Being part of this transformational change is a very exciting time for the company and we look forward to continuing our strong relationship with the government as a trusted digital supplier.'
