Kainos projects gain recognition at UK IT Awards

London, UK 17th November, 2016 Digital solutions provider Kainos has been highly commended in multiple categories in this year's UK IT Awards. The UK IT awards are the benchmark for outstanding performance in the UK's IT industry, and focus on the contribution of individuals, projects, organisations and technologies that have excelled in the use, development and deployment of IT in the past 12 months. Kainos' experience in the digital space meant that the company was awarded with two highly commended positions. These were for the 'Best Use of Cloud Services' category for the DVSA MOT modernisation project, and also 'Best Place to Work in IT'. Kainos was also shortlisted with the Northern Ireland Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) in the 'IT Project Team of the year Category'. The project was delivered collaboratively with Kainos, Inland Fisheries Group, Digital Transformation Services and BT. The DVSA's MOT Modernisation Programme, delivered in partnership with Kainos, was to replace the national mainframe-based MOT system with a more flexible, cost-effective and user-friendly online service. The service is in constant use by around 60,000 testers in 22,700 MOT locations across the UK. The Gov.uk digital service has recorded approximately 31.5 million MOT tests since September 2015, underpinning £6 billion of car tax collection and generating over £1 billion in MOT sales for garages. The project is on track to save the DVSA and the taxpayer £100 million over the next 10 years and make a crucial contribution to improving road safety. Commenting on the project, Russell Sloan, Divisional director at Kainos said, 'The MOT Modernisation Programme was ambitious and the first national government transactional service to be hosted on AWS (Amazon Web Services). I'm delighted that the success of the MOT service transformation and the achievements of the DVSA and Kainos team have been recognised in the UKIT Awards.' Kainos was also awarded with a highly commended position in the 'Best Place to Work in IT' category. The Kainos company mission is 'to enable outstanding people to create digital solutions that have a positive impact on people's lives'. The quality of the company's work is at the heart of what it does. Kainos people strive to exceed expectations and deliver work of the highest possible standard. Commenting on the award win for 'Best Place to Work in IT', Colette Kidd, Head of People and Talent Development at Kainos said, 'Our talented workforce is our greatest asset, so we constantly nurture and invest in our staff. We are thrilled to be recognised as one of the best places to work in the UK for IT, and this is wholly due to our exceptional people and their ability to keep innovating and providing brilliant results to clients.'
