Kainos celebrated the opening of a new office in Gdańsk. Kainos is not new to the area, having had a local office there for over 15 years. Starting with a team of just 8, there are now over 350 people throughout Poland. The expansion in Gdańsk reflects the importance of the Polish office to Kainos’ ongoing success.

The team in Poland help to create solutions for some of Kainos’ biggest global customers. They also design services as part of Kainos’ partnership with Workday, the cloud-based, business management service.

Russell Sloan, CEO of Kainos, was in Gdańsk for the ribbon-cutting ceremony. “Our Polish team have been one of the cornerstones of Kainos’ development for 15 years. The office in Gdańsk is growing, as is the whole organisation. We have people here who are helping to write the history of Kainos. At the launch event, I met young people who recently joined us through our academies and old friends whom I’ve worked with for years. The new office is only part of our overall investment plan. We recently announced a £10m investment in artificial intelligence, and the team here in Poland are integral to these plans. That’s why I am delighted to be here talking to representatives of Gdańsk universities about how to use the potential of artificial intelligence ethically and safely."

The new Kainos office is on the 8th floor of the downtown Tryton Business House. It has unique views of Gdańsk harbour, the shipyard and the area around Solidarność Square.

Jakub Stempnik, Country Lead for Poland, comments: “At Kainos, we have always been flexible in the way we work. Since the pandemic, we’ve had a hybrid approach to working. The office space we have now reflects that flexibility. We have more space to meet, collaborate and host events for our team. Harnessing technology and great communication allows our team to work from anywhere. We know our clients appreciate access to our experts, regardless of where they are based."

Regardless of location, Kainos prides itself on being a growing and responsible company. On track to achieve carbon net zero by 2025, Kainos seeks to leave a positive legacy wherever it goes.

Mieczysław Struk, Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, said: “Kainos is already an integral part of the Gdańsk business environment. The new office and announcement of further development are confirmation that we are creating great opportunities for companies from different countries, even in such key industries as IT. This is part of the region's economic strategy implemented by, among others, the local government initiative Invest in Pomerania, which supports foreign investors in implementing their projects in Pomerania."

Before returning home to Belfast, Russell Sloan said: “Our development plan assumes that by 2025 there will be more than 4,000 people working for Kainos worldwide. I believe that the team in Gdańsk, with its commitment and competencies, will grow as fast as the rest of the organisation. And something tells me that, thanks to the cooperation with local partners, the future looks bright in Gdańsk."
