Background
HM Land Registry (HMLR) safeguards land and property ownership valued at £7 trillion across England and Wales.
The Land Register contains more than 25 million titles showing evidence of ownership for more than 86% of the land mass of England and Wales.
HMLR employs approx. 3,500 case workers across 14 UK locations to process and review applications and registrations.
A significant amount of the case work carried out is highly manual and time-consuming and is ideally suited to automation driven by Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The ask

The solution
Automated comparison of documents with 50+ pages. Minimised effort for performing manual triage of matching legal documents 9 FTE Saved
Improved workflow & reduced time spent
Provision of ‘at a glance’ detection of differences between past and present versions of a document
Leveraging data to improve operational efficiency
Using AI to identify why document comparison failed with capability to improve with ‘human in the loop
Technology
AWS Textract to convert PDFs into machine readable structured data
AWS Comprehend + bespoke NLP models to extract key entities and information
Web App to display the precise locations of differences in the documents on-screen for human review
