What you’ll do
As a Technical Architect you’ll lead some of the best people in the industry to achieve scalable, resilient solutions which meet users’ needs. You’ll design and build large performant, secure solutions which will improve the quality of people’s lives - lives of people you know.
You’ll take responsibility for the end-to-end technical design and delivery from a Scrum team who are working at the forefront of agile digital transformation - where we don’t just follow a textbook; we deliver, review and drive the process ensuring the most value for our users.
You’ll design and develop scalable web solutions in Agile environments that meet our users’ needs while, carrying out code reviews to ensure code delivered by your team remains at the highest level of quality. You will work to quality targets, incorporating design, construction, and testing of modern, open web solutions, while working alongside Ops to consider security, deployment and performance implications.
You’ll advise our users, customers and managers on estimates and the technical impact of user stories and journeys. Because you love to remain hands-on, you’ll be actively involved in both the design and development of the open source platforms we deliver. As well as technical delivery, you'll be involved in advising around technical solutions within the sales process.
Who you are
You currently design solutions based on stories and work with a team to deliver production-ready code in large scale web projects. You can code across multiple tech stacks, including the likes of Java, Ruby, Python, Scala and other open source languages, and thrive on delivering extraordinary solutions.
You understand that to design a viable, robust solution requires you to understand the nuances of the technologies you work with. To do this you maintain a hands-on approach to coding and you regularly submit your code to production.
You thrive in Agile environments and have a sound understanding of the tools, design methodologies and practices. You make effective decisions in an often rapidly changing environment, and work well to deadlines.
You love understanding new technologies and exploring how they can be applied to what you do. You’re passionate about your work and are confident with what you know, and you’re able to pick up and learn languages. You work well as part of a team and communicate well – as a people manager and a technical leader. With lots of mentoring experience, you know how to get the best work out of others. You love advising clients, you’re user and customer focused and are happy to travel nationally to work alongside them.
