DVLA customer video showcases a powerful early Government digital service success delivered in partnership with Kainos

One of the pioneering digital projects Kainos has been working on as part of the Government Digital Service's Exemplar programme, is the View Driving Record service for the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) providing online access to driving records for up to 40 million drivers and the insurance industry. The following video looks at how this GDS Exemplar project has developed, through the eyes of Dudley Ashford, Programme Manager at DVLA, who explains how the service works, the many benefits, and the technology that has made it all possible. Kainos was the DVLA's development partner for the project, which as an early digital initiative has showcased how a government service can be created rapidly and cost-effectively, using an agile approach (involving end users at every stage) and open source technology. In the video Dudley talks about the many firsts achieved in this project, the creative way Kainos overcame security challenges, and the hugely positive reaction there has been to the results across and beyond the DVLA. Kainos and DVLA representatives will speak at an upcoming industry conference, Digital Government, taking place in London on July 8th, in a session entitled 'Delivering the Exemplars: Lessons from the Front Line'.
