New digital recording of patient attendance data
Kainos are pleased to share an exciting new integration between Evolve Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Netcall. This new integration with the Patient Survey Hub allows Digital recording of patient attendance data, which is then retrieved and stored in the patients medical record on Evolve.
The traditional setting for filling out medical surveys or questionnaires has been the doctor’s office or a hospital. However, this environment may not always be conducive to accurate and thoughtful data input. Sending surveys to patients to complete at home presents many benefits:

1. Reduced Stress and Anxiety
Hospitals and clinics can often be stressful environments for patients. The unfamiliar surroundings, the anticipation of a medical procedure, or even the sheer act of waiting can influence a patient's state of mind. This stress can inadvertently affect how they answer surveys. At home, patients are more relaxed and may provide more accurate and thoughtful responses.
2. Time and Reflection: Filling out surveys at home provides patients with the luxury of time. They can reflect on questions, perhaps even observe or monitor certain symptoms or behaviours, before answering. This contrasts with the rushed environment of a hospital or clinic where they might feel pressured to answer quickly.
3. Consultation with Family: For certain questions or sections of a survey, patients might wish to consult with family members or caregivers for accurate recall, especially when chronicling the history or progression of symptoms. This collaborative input can provide a fuller, more accurate picture.
4. Avoidance of White Coat Syndrome: The phenomenon where patients exhibit elevated blood pressure in a clinical setting but not in other settings is known as the White Coat Syndrome. Similarly, the presence of medical professionals might influence a patient's responses, either because they want to provide answers they believe are expected or out of reluctance to discuss certain symptoms openly. The privacy of their home can mitigate this syndrome, leading to more genuine responses.
5. Electronic Integration: If patients are using health monitoring tools at home, like smartwatches or other devices that track vitals or behaviors, the data can be integrated into their responses, providing objective insights along with their subjective feedback.

Why integrate these surveys into Evolve?
The Electronic Document Management System (EDMS) at hospitals offers profound advantages. Most notably, the seamless combination of clinical data with patient-reported outcomes empowers healthcare providers to make better-informed care decisions tailored to individual needs. Moreover, this integration facilitates a more efficient and cost-effective operational framework, reducing administrative burdens and accelerating timely interventions. Lastly, the amalgamation of survey feedback with medical records delivers deep, data-driven insights, enabling hospitals to discern critical healthcare trends and continuously refine their patient care approaches. In essence, such integration is pivotal for enhancing both patient care and hospital operations.
