Our Digital Services Technology Strategy
As Chief Technology Officer for Kainos Digital services, a key focus of my role is to set and keep our Digital Services Technology Strategy on course. This sets the organisation - and the individuals within it - up for success. Kainos builds innovative and disruptive solutions for our customers and is somewhere where all employees are given the opportunities needed to grow a great career in Technology. The Digital Services Technology Strategy is made up of pillars which aim to deliver these desired outcomes, including technical excellence, progressive technology and amplifying employees' voices through networks and communities.

Technical excellence is a pillar of the strategy which we achieve through continually assessing and improving our approach to core best practice, to learning and upskilling our people. This is of vital importance to the exemplar work we deliver to our customers, constantly ensuring that we deliver to the highest standard. This also creates an ecosystem where our technical colleagues can grow and thrive.
Another key focus of our Digital Services Technology Strategy is identifying and implementing progressive technology, using a whole host of platforms and approaches. This benefits our people, who are challenged with new and exciting work and are empowered to be ‘Technology Explorers.’ This is also in our customers’ interests, as the best approach - rather than just the tried and tested one - is applied to their organisation’s needs, providing them with the highest quality outcomes.
Within Kainos we place a high value on networks, and this is another area of focus within the Digital Services Technology Strategy. As an organisation we are committed to Diversity and Inclusion; our employees voices can be heard through our network groups and allyship is actively encouraged.
- Inspire is our women’s network, which looks to empower women at Kainos, providing a safe-space to discuss issues, support career development and guide the organisation on gender issues.
- Voice is our ethnically diverse network, which aims to transform the employee experience of colleagues from all underrepresented ethnicities, for the benefit of all Kainos people, groups and communities.
- Xpression is our LGBTQ+ employee network which is a consultative support and social group which provides a link between Kainos people, leadership, and our local communities.
- Neurodiversity is a network for and to support our neurodiverse colleagues by raising awareness and making Kainos an inclusive place to work, where neurodiverse people can thrive.

Communities within Kainos are key to engaging our team and developing technological skills and expertise. We encourage sharing learnings, stories, and successes with our colleagues. We work to deliberately build networks between communities to maximise their impact. This is equally beneficial in terms of amplifying the great work of our colleagues and bringing their thought leadership to the fore. For example, our Cloud and Data & AI practices often run sessions for all those who are interested to learn.
The Digital Services Technology Strategy is a living, breathing piece of work which shapes how we act as a supplier to our customers, and as an employer to our people. We will continue to find new ways to drive technical excellence, progressive technology and give a voice to individuals and communities within our organisation as we move forward.
