Elevating user experience: our expert highlights from Workday 2023R2
It's that time of year again: Workday is due to release another feast of fantastic functional updates across the system.
Workday is an evolving solution, constantly being developed with both innovations and updates, improved functionality and machine learning based on feedback from Workday users in the community. It's regularly being updated to deliver enhancements that drive efficiency, improve user experience and increase controls and compliance – all with the aim of continuous improvement across HR, Payroll, and Finance teams in any organisation using Workday.
Focal points for Workday 2023R2
As with all bi-annual Workday releases, there are numerous excellent improvements to Workday's functionality. There are far too many to list off here, so we have cherry picked three key developments that can benefit organisations and users the most.
Machine Learning
Consistent with recent releases, there's a clear focus on machine learning. New finance functionality includes intelligent recommendations as part of the expense receipt scanning process, and intelligent prompt recommendations for customer overpayments. Both are designed to enhance usability and efficiency for end users.
For HCM, Workday introduces a new Manager Insights Hub. Using machine learning, this feature allows managers to view insights and suggestions about their teams' career growth and development. For Workday Help customers, machine learning will provide intelligent answers that automatically retrieve and suggest relevant Help articles for a user's search query.
Automation
Workday is an incredibly user-friendly system. Therefore, it's logical that we continue to see improvements centred around user experience. The Workday 2023R2 release is no exception. New finance functionality automates the creation of quick expenses from email ingestion of receipts as well as a new feature enabling the automatic upload of e-invoices to customer portals using the new cXML solution. This enhances internal efficiencies and provides a better user experience for your customers.
Moreover, Workday has enabled automatic duplicate and synonym skill management for all Skills Cloud customers, automated skills suggestions for internal job applications, automatic disposition of candidates when a Job Requisition is closed, and automatic field population in the Change Job process.
Efficiency
Other finance improvements, such as Direct Intercompany Netting, the ability to schedule depreciation runs, and the ability to create custom depreciation profiles, are examples of functionality developed based on feedback from existing customers through the Workday community. These fantastic improvements increase automation and efficiency for any finance team using Workday.
For Workday's HCM users, there are several improvements to the Change Job process, making this vital staffing process more efficient. These include the ability to launch Change Job templates from dashboards, improved field-level configuration, a new improved drag-and-drop attachment option, and a simplified user interface for the Start Job action. Other efficiency improvements worth mentioning include a new dependent verification task, the ability to sell time-off, enhanced offer and employment agreement functionality, a redesigned user experience for goals, and an improved manager experience across the Workday home page. All these changes have been designed to further enhance and streamline the user experience across Workday.
