Putting people first: Kainos pledges to prioritise mental health
At Kainos, we’re committed to being a great employer - and that means putting the health and wellbeing of our people first.
We’ve committed to the UN's Sustainability Goal number three (Good Health and Wellbeing), and we know that a positive work environment is key to keeping our teams healthy and happy. That’s why we’ve rolled out a global wellbeing approach dedicated to providing our colleagues with the tools and support to manage their wellbeing. From providing access to healthcare, emotional wellbeing resources and support networks, to promoting digital learning tools and initiatives, we’re determined to support the wellbeing of our people - both inside and outside of work.

What is The Leadership Pledge?
The Leadership Pledge is a global, business-led initiative - designed to advocate for (and accelerate) positive change for mental health in the workplace.
Whilst strides have been made in addressing mental wellbeing in recent years, we still have more ground to cover. The stigma and bias surrounding mental health remains significant.
Because no one business has all the answers, the Leadership Pledge aims to build a global community of committed business leaders to share insights and accelerate action and progress.
Why did Kainos sign?
Through our continuous listening tool Peakon, our people told us this was an area we should focus on. A supportive work environment can positively impact people's health, leading to greater productivity, higher employee engagement, and improved retention rates. When workplaces prioritise the wellbeing of their people, everyone benefits.
By signing the Leadership Pledge, we join a global movement of companies dedicated to promoting mental wellbeing among their workforces. This spotlights our dedication to putting our people first and reflects our core values as an organisation, as we strive to create a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and supported.
What does this commitment mean for Kainos?
There are six commitments for this Pledge which will form part of Kainos’ global wellbeing approach. These commitments are:
- Develop and deliver an action plan to support good mental health in our organisation.
- Promote an open culture around mental health, working towards eliminating stigma.
- Take proactive steps to develop our culture and ways of working towards creating positive mental health and reducing mental ill-health.
- Empower all our people to manage and prioritise their own mental health, and to support one another.
- Signpost our people to mental health tools and support they need.
- Regularly measure the impact of our efforts, being open about our progress, to influence and inspire change in our organisation and beyond.

Looking ahead
We’re dedicated to improving the lives of our colleagues through our internal ‘People Promise’ initiative, and we will continue to use Peakon (our continuous listening tool) to gather employee feedback. As a key focus area, our support for mental health has intensified over the past year. External research indicates that this trend will persist, driving our continued focus on wellbeing. By completing a self-reflection survey every 12 months as part of the Leadership Pledge, we’ll be able to hold ourselves accountable and create opportunities to learn from other organisations.
This Pledge marks a significant milestone in our wellbeing journey. With access to resources, support, and initiatives designed to promote mental wellness and resilience, we’re delighted to sign the Leadership Pledge and we remain deeply invested in the health and happiness of our people.
We'll continue to champion initiatives that focus on wellbeing every step of the way. Because we know that when our people thrive, so does Kainos.
