Next Generation Managed Service is here. What does that mean for you?

As the world goes through yet another phase of technological acceleration, traditional Managed Service is no longer enough to keep pace with the new technologies that organisations are adopting. Here, we look at how, in an increasingly complex world, evolved managed services are not only the key to efficient everyday operations, but also to driving continuous improvement in the most effective way.

Managed Service is evolving. Not only are organisations adopting more and more technology, but they are learning to do it in ways that are ever-more specific to various business needs. For example, companies that have adopted Cloud technologies and DevOps practices, evolving their technology and delivery models along the way, must also evolve their ways of working to realise the people and process improvements needed for real change.

Another consideration is how everyone interacts with different technologies in different ways; in some cases low code/no code business SME’s are becoming the new coders and developers themselves.

What does that mean in practice?

For us here at Kainos, it’s simple: we’ve evolved our thinking to put service first.

Then we build our team and shape our service around that.

We know that we cannot architect or code a solution without carefully considering the customer and business service requirements that drive the shape of service we need to deliver.

How do we do that?

With extensive expertise of delivering evolved managed service, we know that every delivery is different. In most cases however, we can begin by:

  • Bridging the service to business gap
  • Breaking down silos that support a decentralised model
  • Blending teams to provide a flexible and adaptable skillset
  • Moving away from transactional service to continuous improvement
  • Enabling people

Underpinning everything is a shift in emphasis and a change in perspective from delivery to partnership. We’ve evolved as managed service providers to implement a partnership model that factors in all three parties: the service providers, the technology provider and the business operator.

It’s a partnership model that’s designed to deliver your Day One requirements AND anticipates future change, ensuring alignment with long term business goals.

Most importantly, it’s an approach that enables continuous digital transformation as a journey as opposed to a point-in-time project.

At Kainos, enablement and improvement are at the heart of our service ethos and the way we approach our customer engagements.

Our 8-year partnership with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) is an excellent example of this, with our managed service and delivery solution supporting ongoing digital services in the UK and 178 countries around the world.

Our teams support, maintain and improve digital Consular Services vital to British nationals around the world. They include software engineers, platform engineers, dynamics experts and management, all supported by a wealth of specialist skills on demand. As well as successfully supporting services, the team has also delivered 3 x full-service migrations to more resilient, stable, and cost-efficient AWS public cloud solutions, 4 x successful service transitions from incumbent suppliers, and the full lifecycle design, build, and release of the new Register your Presence service.

It has been a great experience to work with Kainos to maintain and support the FCDO’s digital consular services. Kainos has been a reliable and professional partner. The UK Government has committed to enhance the support and assistance available to our nationals overseas, offering a wider choice of digital services for consular assistance.  Portfolio Manager, Consular Services Department, FCDO
