Kainos leads the way at international SXSW Conference

As the renowned conference descends once again upon Austin, Texas, so too will a cohort from Kainos. This year, our people will take to the stage on a range of topics including the future of artificial intelligence, and improving digital literacy among young people. The SXSW conference and festivals celebrates the convergence of the interactive, film and music industries providing an opportunity for global professionals at every level to participate, learn and network. Following the successful launch of RETNE at last year's conference, Kainos is committed to preserving the precedent set by the unique and compelling VR experience and will be once again showcasing creativity, expertise and technological excellence. 'Human Impact and Machine Ethics in AI' panel discussion @ Immersed in NI Attending as part of the DIT@SXSW Trade Mission, Kainos will represent Northern Ireland at 'Immersed in Northern Ireland' on Monday 12 March, an event organised by Invest NI, Digital Catapult NI and Belfast City Council, that promises to showcase some of the country's most innovative digital and immersive technology companies. Tom Gray, CTO at Kainos, alongside Rory Hanratty, Deputy CTO at Kainos will join an expert panel entitled 'Human Impact and Machine Ethics in AI', looking at the AI-enabled future and discussing how governments and companies can take advantage of the rapid evolving technology landscape. 'Educating Teachers: Closing the Digital Skills Gap' @ SXSW Edu Seamus Sands, Senior Analytics Engineer at Kainos, was selected to present at the preceding SXSW Edu event on Tuesday 6 March as a result of a public vote via the PanelPicker platform. Seamus' session will explore a pioneering collaboration between an education authority, IT industry leaders, and teachers to improve digital literacy in the classroom in a bid to combat the digital skills gap. Seamus has been instrumental in leading on the project as part of Kainos' Tech Outreach programme, which has seen digital skills training being delivered to 80 teachers so far this year. With such extensive contribution to one of the most esteemed global conferences of its kind, Kainos continues to showcase its tech talent at the highest level. The nine-day Conference will kick off on 9 March, proceeded by SXSW Edu on 5 March, with keynotes provided by celebrated individuals including the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan and philanthropist Melinda Gates, co-chair of the eminent Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
