Kainos Principal Architect Wins Young IT Professional of the Year Award

Last night, at the prestigious Northern Ireland BCS IT Professional of the Year Awards, Kainos Principal Architect, Gareth Workman, was announced as the inaugural Young IT Professional of the Year. The IT Professional of the Year Awards is a highly regarded industry event, and this year added recognition for professionals aged 18-35. A panel, which includes winners of other awards from previous years, assessed nominees for their significant contribution to IT through outstanding commitment and achievement early in their career. Gareth is the youngest Principal Architect at Kainos and is considered a role model for the next generation of technologists. Having worked in the industry for over nine years, he understands the importance of coaching and mentoring aspiring IT professionals. In this regard, Gareth has built a team of over 30 highly skilled WebOps professionals across the UK and Poland and has been instrumental in launching the company's innovative WebOps academy in Gdansk. Gareth has also championed the use of DevOps in high performing, multi-skilled teams that deliver transformational digital solutions for the UK Government. Outside Kainos, Gareth is building a profile as a WebOps leader across the wider IT industry. He has presented at conferences such as BelTech, leading a discussion panel with peers from global organisations. Never one to shy away from promoting the WebOps capability, Gareth shared an insight into his role in the video here. 'Gareth has shown outstanding leadership and professionalism in his career to date' says Brendan Mooney, CEO of Kainos. 'His commitment in sharing skills and building digital capability is having an impact at a national level. Through his work in UK Government departments he directly affects the ability of the UK to deliver more cost effective and user-focused public services. It's fantastic to see him recognised as the BCS Young IT Professional of the Year.'
