Corporate Social Responsibility

The Directors at Kainos believe that the Group's technology expertise can help improve the social mobility of citizens in our local and global communities. Kainos actively collaborates with educational organisations and charities to widen participation in the global software industry for under-represented groups.

Aligned with the UN Sustainability Goal for Quality education, we provide educational initiatives designed to inspire the next generation of technology leaders. These include:

School engagement

Kainos collaborates with schools to promote computing education and the exciting career opportunities within the global software industry. Our people deliver technical workshops in schools, enabling young people to grow their skills in Coding, Cyber Security and Generative AI.

Upskilling educators

Kainos takes pride in helping educators enhance their technology skills. Our people share their expertise and support educators in integrating the latest technologies into classrooms. They boost educators’ confidence by delivering webinars and workshops in Coding and Generative AI. Additionally, they ensure industry practice aligns with curriculum standards, ultimately benefiting both students and educators.

Universities

Kainos partners with universities in several ways. Our people help shape academic course content, ensuring content aligns with industry standards. Kainos sponsors an AI research centre at Ulster University, focused on innovation in AI and aiding research and skills development. We offer an award winning “Earn as You Learn” Apprenticeship scheme, and provide guest lectures and technical talks across universities - sharing key insights, developments and industry perspectives. We also host employability workshops to enhance students’ career mobility.

Bursary schemes

Kainos collaborates with educational institutes in Belfast, Birmingham, Nottingham and Poland to offer bursaries to computing students. These schemes typically support women pursuing computing education and aim to address gender imbalances, fostering diverse talent within the software industry. Our people also mentor the students, guiding them to reach their potential.

Work experience opportunities

Kainos welcomes technology enthused students to experience a taste of everything we do. Our people deliver high-quality learning programmes, exposing young people to the latest technologies and career paths. The core learning themes include Coding, Cyber Security, AI and Green Software.

Community learning initiatives

Kainos hosts several community-based learning initiatives, designed to empower our communities to enhance their technical skills. Our people are passionate about learning and actively deliver immersive learning initiatives. These include our Global CodeCamp, TechCamp in the Americas, and Code Clubs.

Social value commitments

Kainos works actively alongside our valued customers to make a positive impact in the communities in which we live and work. Our people are dedicated to tackling economic inequality, reducing climate change, and promoting good health, wellbeing and equal opportunities. The software industry (known for rapid growth) creates limitless opportunities for social and career mobility, leading to an equitable and more sustainable society.
