In partnership with Student Awards Agency Scotland, Kainos have been working collaboratively and inclusively to modernise the student funding application process and create a truly customer centric model of service delivery. The result is a responsive, highly accessible system that also maximises time and cost efficiencies.
Kainos has worked with BT and the NI Digital Transformation Service (DTS) to deliver a diverse digital transformation project to rebuild the customer experience, IT operations and business functions for Inland Fisheries (IF).
Kainos built a new easy to use customer portal hosted on nidirect.gov.uk with a simplified user choice selection to ensure the correct permits are selected by customers using the online service. Development of a new mobile application by the Kainos team also enables Enforcement Officers within IFG to check a fisherman’s permit simply by taking the license number. This eliminates the need for officers to see paper permits and verify them with back office staff over the phone.

Autonomy Records Management, IT support
Kainos is delivering PHSO a corporate EDRM system using the powerful, meaning-based capabilities of Autonomy’s Records Management solution. Once the first implementation has been rolled out, PHSO plans to turn its attention to integrating EDRM into its casework management system and applying those same information management benefits, stemming the flow of information loss and delivering increased information visibility and access across its directorates.
IT supportKainos developed a web-enabled solution (named Solas) that provides KBC’s staff with immediate access to all the information and documentation necessary to process a mortgage application. Based on Autonomy’s document management product, scanning and workflow technology are combined to facilitate faster data capture and to ensure that each step of the mortgage process is completed on schedule and by the appropriate personnel.Solas automates most tasks in the process, using extensive business validation and a sophisticated calculations engine. The solution was also required to integrate all of the customer channels (web, phone and branch) and thereby ensure that brokers and customers would experience the same high quality of service through any interface.

Kainos built the customised solution using Microsoft technologies. The new system, known internally as NBQ, enables advisers to provide clients with estimated future policy values, which is a key part of the sales process, while also ensuring that all applicable regulatory requirements are met when providing pre-sale illustrations to clients in various regions around the world.
Integrated EDRM, Rating Engine, eCommerce, User Interfaces, MIS & Reporting, IT supportKainos and FBD worked hand in hand to design and build a world class car insurance website using Web 2.0 technologies to enable a more dynamic customer web experience. The site also fully integrates with FBD’s administration, payment and documentation systems enabling a seamless buying experience for the customer.
Buckinghamshire Healthcare selected Kainos to deliver a rapid proof-of-concept; a quick and powerful low-cost implementation of Evolve, designed to encourage clinical user engagement and accelerate project delivery.
West Suffolk Hospital has used the Kainos Evolve solution to scan all existing patient notes (approx 250,000 case files with 160+ pages each), within the existing medical records library to make them available electronically to all staff, aiding patient care. The digitisation approach has been extended to A&E CAS card scanning.
Kainos has assisted South Warwickshire in transforming its acute health services with the comprehensive Evolve EMR solution. Evolve has helped the Trust to vastly reduce the need for physical medical records storage and changed the way staff work by providing dynamic access to real-time patient information at the bedside. These benefits will extend into a community setting in 2014 by leveraging the mobile and offline capabilities of Evolve for iPad.
Countess of Chester Hospital has used Kainos Evolve EMR to digitise all live patient case notes, giving its clinicians instant access to accurate, up-to-date case notes at the point of need, yielding on-going savings of £1 million a year.
Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, one of the largest cancer centres in the UK, chose Kainos to embed Evolve EMR within their existing EPR system to provide clinicians with comprehensive access to electronic records at the point of need, and to prepare for exchanging content securely with remote partners, such as GPs and referring hospitals.
Lancashire Teaching Hospitals selected Kanos Evolve to become a key facet of the Trust’s casenote digitisation programme. Evolve, which is already live across several medical specialities, has significantly reduced the number of missing patient notes or relevant clinical information.
Bradford Teaching Hospitals selected Kainos Evolve EMR as a core part of their ambitious “Going Digital” clinical information system initiative. Clinicians are now using a full Mobile/iPad version of Evolve to access case notes, radiology reports and hearing test results in their Yorkshire Cochlear Implant Service.
Kainos is working with Defra to deliver a new digital service to implement the EU Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) in England. Built using agile methods and open source technologies the new service will consolidate systems and processes from across the organisation. It will provide a single, easy-to-use system which will make it easy for users to understand and apply for CAP payments. It will help prevent the UK government from incurring fines (‘disallowance’) for making payments that don’t comply with CAP rules (~£600m since 2005 ). The service will process over £1.5bn annually in payments to UK farmers.
Kainos is engaged with Home Office to provide agile development services, and support of the UKBA website. As part of the digital agile teams run in-house by the Home Office, Digital by Default Service Standard compliant development services are being provided to various business areas across the department. This includes the Registered Traveller Exemplar service, for which we provide Development, Open Source and UX Design expertise as part of the Home Office team.
The service will enable eligible frequent travelers to access e-Passport Gates and have a better, faster transaction experience at the border. Other such projects have included migration and transformation of various services to hosting arrangements via G-Cloud.
