Our climate action journey

Our mission

At Kainos, we embrace the responsibility we have to ensure our impact on society, local communities and the environment leaves a legacy we can all be proud of.

Our climate mission is to be a company that acts responsibly to protect and enhance the natural world around us, helping our people, partners, suppliers and shareholders achieve their own low carbon futures too.

Climate action is an integral part of our culture and our social value commitments, which are based on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s). We align our sustainability efforts to five of these goals, including climate action (number 13).

Taking accountability

Climate change means long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns. The effects are already visible, and we must act now to reduce our impacts. Through education, raising awareness and innovation, we’re committed to making changes to protect our planet.

We’re doing this by taking accountability for our own carbon footprint. This includes implementing changes in how we operate across our offices, how we deliver products and services to our customers, and the technology we use to do our work.

Bold ambition

To focus our efforts, we have a bold ambition to achieve near-term company-wide emission reductions in line with climate science with the SBTi. We use these approved targets to challenge what we do, to educate, to drive sustainable behaviours and innovation, and to support our use of high-quality carbon removals for remaining emissions.

Our climate action plan is refreshed every year and focuses on three key priorities: green travel, supplier engagement, and sustainable customer services and solutions.

Measuring our progress

We use the world’s leading climate platform, Watershed, to capture key data each month, and assess our carbon footprint every six months to identify improvements. We disclose our data externally to the CDP global disclosure system, using the feedback to ensure our climate initiatives stay in line with good practice. Climate action is also built into our internal continuous listening platform Peakon, through which we capture feedback and ideas from our people.
